SAT语法考试：逗号使用的考点总结

　　标点符号，作为SAT语法考试的必考项，是每一个考生都应该仔细去总结的。通常来说，SAT需要考核apostrophe、colon、semicolon、parentheses、dash、comma 以及表示结尾的period/ question mark，但是考核最为频繁的则是功能强大的comma，即逗号。今天就和大家先分享一下我们对于SAT语法考试中对于逗号使用的考点分析。

　　经常改作文时会看到学生们的习作中，逗号使用错误百出。最常见的就是逗号使用的随意性，感到自己写完一个意思，随时就点一个。更有甚者，整个段落5-6行就一个句号，其余都是逗号。出现这样问题的终极原因就是长时间的中文写作思维和英文之间的转换困难。大家在写英文的时候，完全没有去想逗号的使用规则。

　　事实上，逗号在英文中，作用是为“cut-off piece”，也就是分割句子的部分，比如从句或者是项目的罗列。但是逗号并非能够随意使用，在一些情况下是不能使用的，比如：

　　两个独立的句子之间不能使用逗号

　　简单来说，独立句指的是具备谓语动词且不带连词的句子。如果有两个独立句之间只有一个逗号，说明句子犯了“run-on”的错误。

　　以上这句话，存在两个谓语动词，“poured”以及“is”，而划线部分之间却仅仅只有一个逗号，这样的表达就是错误的。选项B/C分别犯了fragment sentence 以及broken sentence的错误，所以只有选项D是正确的答案，因为该选项把原句逗号后面改为了一个同位语。

　　关系代词“that”前不使用逗号

　　形容词性从句中，可以使用“that”的情况是比较多的，但是有一点需要注意的是，“that”前面是不可以使用逗号的。

　　限定的头衔和人名之间不使用逗号

　　如果该头衔就是用来特指这个人，头衔和人名之间我们就不再需要逗号。比如：

　　In 1941, two years after Britain declared war on Germany, the American-turned-British poet T. S. Eliot, began to write the fourth and final piece of the Four Quartets.

　　但是需要注意的是，如果这个头衔是一个非限定的，即用“a/an”来修饰的，同时放在人名后面，那么需要使用逗号。比如：

　　句意没有表达完整不能使用逗号

　　这一点听上去比较抽象，实际上很好理解。逗号其实表达的是一种停顿，但是如果句意还没有表达完整，停顿是不允许的，自然也不能使用逗号。
