　　在PTE中，不同于口语和写作的满满的套路、技巧和模板，PTE阅读的技巧比较少，复习方法也相对比较少。也就是说，小伙伴们更多的是需要靠自己去提升自己的阅读能力。

　　The children themselves seem fairly happy with theirlot.In a survey across the OECD in 2015,15-year-oldswere asked toratetheir satisfaction with their life on a scale from zero to ten.The average score was 7.3, with Finnish kids thesunniest, at nearly 7.9, and Turkish ones thegloomiest, at 6.1. Boys were happier than girls, and children from affluent families scored higher than the rest.

　　孩子们自己似乎对命运较为满意。2015年经合组织的一项调查让15岁的孩子按0到10分给自己的生活满意度打分。平均得分为7.3分，其中芬兰小孩最阳光，接近7.9分，土耳其小孩最忧愁，为6.1分。男孩比女孩更快乐，富裕家庭的孩子得分高于其他孩子。

　　此处lot表示“命运,运气”,用法举例:

　　Her lot has been a hard one.她命苦。

　　I would not want to share his lot.我可不愿和他同甘共苦。

　　... were asked toratetheir satisfaction with their life on a scale from zero to ten

　　前文中的child mortality rates中的rate作名词表示“比率, 率”; 此处的rate则作动词使用, 表示“划分等级, 评估价值”, 用法举例:

　　On a scale of one to ten, I'd rate his book a five. 满分是10分的话, 我给他这本书打5分。

　　She is rated very highly by the people she works for. 雇主对她的评价都很高。

　　I rate cars as one of the worst polluters of the environment. 我认为汽车是污染环境的罪魁祸首之一。

　　sunniest,gloomiest

　　sunniest= sunny + -est,gloomiest= gloomy + -est

　　单词sunny用法举例:

　　We're having the party in the garden, so I'm praying it'll be sunny. 我们要在花园里举行聚会, 所以我正祈祷那天会阳光明媚。

　　She has a very sunny disposition. 她性情非常开朗。

　　单词gloomy用法举例:

　　What gloomy weather we're having! 今天天气太阴沉了!

　　a gloomy person/expression 一个愁容满面的人/一个沮丧的表情

　　a gloomy economic forecast 令人沮丧的经济形势预测

　　语法讲解：15-year-old

　　15-year-old本来是一个由数词、名词和形容词构成的复合形容词。

　　如果不加连字符，就可以还原成句子中的一个表语结构，但要注意year一词的单复数变化：The child is 15yearsold。

　　复数名词在参与构成复合形容词时，一般变为单数，再如：

　　The trip takes twohours. → This is a two-hourtrip.

　　而在原句中，year没有加s，old后却加了s。这是因为形容词用作了名词，表示一类人，就像the poor, the old一样，但是此处不需要加定冠词。如果要说“一个十五岁的孩子”，也可以直接加不定冠词来表示，即a 15-year-old。
