  1.Soya

第一段: 第一句话Soya. Is a profitable Industry. 后面解释为什么,因为feed animals, increasing demand in human beings who不吃肉…… 然后举例很多animals. 可以做biofuel, 但是有一些问题,会造成climate change什么

  3.Psychologist

大概是讲psychologist 是研究一些列的人的行为思想啥的 主要是关于an overarching complex on why humans behave inthe way they thought,然后说our thoughts and behaviors are affected by many influences, and a bio-psychologicalmodel could be a means to explain biological, social and psychological influences,最后说an integrated explanationshould include all the influences。

  4.Coffee

Coffee is enjoyed by millions of people every day and the 'coffee experience' has become a staple of our modern lifeand culture. While the current body of research related to the effects of coffee consumption on human health hasbeen contradictory, a study in the June issue of Comprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, which ispublished by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), found that the potential benefits of moderate coffee drinkingoutweigh the risks in adult consumers for the majority of major health outcomes considered.

Researchers at Ulster University systematically reviewed 1,277 studies from 1970 to-date on coffee's effect on humanhealth and found the general scientific consensus is that regular, moderate coffee drinking (defined as 3-4 cups perday) essentially has a neutral effect on health, or can be mildly beneficial.

The authors noted causality of risks and benefits cannot be established for either with the research currently availableas they are largely based on observational data. Further research is needed to quantify the risk-benefit balance forcoffee consumption, as well as identify which of coffee's many active ingredients, or indeed the combination of such, that could be inducing these health benefits.

  5.Madeline Gannon

Madeline Gannon is a researcher, teacher at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Architecture and Ph.D.candidate in Computational Design but that's not all. She is on a mission to open up the infinite design possibilities of3D printing to the world.

Currently you have to have a lot of technical background in order to participate in creating things for 3D printers, Gannon says. There is still a huge knowledge barrier for how we create digital models. As the technology has advanced, prices have plummeted, and now anyone can buy a 3D printer for a few hundreddollars, Gannon notes. However, not just anyone can create original designs for 3D-printed artifacts. To put true creative power into the hands of any ordinary 3D printer owner, Gannon has developed an innovativenew system called Tactum.

  DESIGN WITHIN REACH

Tactum is a new type of software that lets users create their own unique designs for 3D printers by simply touching aprojected image.Using their innate hand gestures, someone using Tactum can poke, rub and otherwise manipulate the projectedmage that will become their 3D printed object, and see it instantly change shape in response. In keeping with the goal of democratizing the process, Gannon designed her first series of Tactum artifacts on asurface that everyone can access freely and manipulate instinctively, that being the human body. My goal was to bring the digital out to the physical world and out onto your body, says Gannon.

Along with a companion project called Reverb which translates these user-created designs into printable meshes thatmpulse has resulted in a spectacular diversity of bracelet and necklace designs, ranging from smooth landscapes, intricate textures and chaotic free forms to delicate geometries derived from the 19th century art of chronography.

  1.Classic

One of the most important things to remember is that "classic" does not necessarily translate to "favorite" or"bestselling". Literature is instead considered classic when it has stood the test of time and it stands the test of timewhen the artistic quality it expresses be it an expression of life, truth, beauty, or anything about the universal humancondition continues to be relevant, and continues to inspire emotional responses, no matter the period in which thework was written.

Indeed, classic literature is considered as suchregardlessof book sales or public popularity. That said, classicliterature usually merits lasting recognition from critics and other people in a position to influence such decisions andhas a universal appeal. And, while effective use of language as well as technical excellence is a must, not everythingthat is well-written or is characterized by technical achievement or critical acclaim will automatically be considered aclassic. Conversely, works that have not been acknowledged or received positively by the writer's contemporaries or

critics can still be considered as classics.

  2. Sales jobs

Sales jobs allow for a great deal of discretionary time and effort on the part of the sales representatives – especiallywhen compared with managerial, manufacturing, and service jobs. Most sales representatives work independentlyand outside the immediate presence of their sales managers. Therefore, some form of goals needs to be in placeasmotiveandguidetheirperformance. Sales personnel are not the only professionals with performance goals or

quotas. Health care professionals operating in clinics have daily, weekly, and monthly goals in terms of patient visits.Service personnel are assigned a number of service calls theymustperform during a set time period. Productionworkers in manufacturing have output goals. So, why are achieving sales goals or quotas such a big deal? The answerto this question can be found by examining how a firm's other departments are affected by how well the company'ssalespeople achieve their performance goals. The success of the businesshingeson the successful sales of itsproducts and services. Consider all the planning, the financial, production and marketing efforts that go into

producingwhatthe sales force sells. Everyone depends on the sales force to sell the company's products andservices and they eagerly anticipate knowing things are going.

MA(Multiple Answer)

1.According to the text, what can we learn from the “space factor”-a measure of thedisorder in the system?

Now, Osvanny Ramos of the Ecole Normale Suprieure in Lyon, France, and colleagues say prediction is possible afterall. They designed an experiment that induced avalanches in a two-dimensional pile of 4-millimetre-diameter steelbeads. They placed a 60-centimetre row of randomly spaced beads between two parallel, vertical glass plates 4.5millimeters apart, with the beads glued to the bottom to simulate the ground under a natural pile. Then they droppedin one bead at a time, creating piles of up to 55,000 beads. After each drop, the team photographed the pile andmeasured the position of each bead to calculate the "space factor" - a measure of the disorder in the system, whichwas related to the space surrounding each bead (see diagram). The greater the disorder round a bead, the more likelyan avalanche was. If one or more beads moved when a new bead fell on the pile that was considered to be anavalanche. An extra-large avalanche involved between 317 and 1000 beads. The researchers found that if the spacefactor before a bead dropped was greater than it had been 50 steps earlier, they could predict an extra-largeavalanche with 64 per cent accuracy. Ramos says that they can improve the odds by analysing more information, suchas the size of the pile (Physical Review Letters, vol 102, p 078701). The work could also have important consequencesfor predicting earthquakes. Ramos has inkling why forecasting earthquakes is so difficult: seismologist tends to useinformation about the time and size of events, known as a time series. However, Ramos found that this didn't helppredict the next big avalanche. "When seismologists try to predict earthquakes, they analyse the time series," he says.He argues that they would have more success analysing data analogous to the internal disorder in the pile of beads.

lSpace factor is related to the space around each bead, and the greater disorder indicates a higher possibility ofavalanche.

lThe greater the disorder around a bead, the less likely an avalanche was.

lInternal disorder analysis will lead to a more successful model.

lThey could 100% accurately predict an extra-large avalanche based on the change in space factor of a bead.

lForecasting earthquakes is easier than predicting avalanche.
