PTE核心词汇讲解：词缀打卡-ment

　　在做PTE教材时，把自己看到的，听到的，以及想要用的不会的单词都总结积累下来，并且背过。词汇的词根词缀记忆法，背一个词汇的时候，这个词的所有词性，变形都一同记住，能够事半功倍。

　　-ment n.[OF, L]= the act or state or fact of ~ing; the condition of being ~ed; the product or result of ~ing; the cause or means of ~ing

　　词缀来源

　　来自古法语与拉丁语的名词后缀-ment也经历了被英语同化的过程，所以，它既可以充当原生后缀加在动词词根上，也可以充当派生后缀加在动词上。-ment的意思主要是...的行为、状况或事实，被...的状况，...的产物或结果，...的原因或手段等。

　　parliament（国会）：英王和贵族和教士讨论朝政的大会

　　在中世纪的英国，当国王觉得有必要召集一些贵族、教士来讨论朝政时，就会专门召集一次会议，这种会议就叫做parliament。这个单词来自法语parlement，是动词parler（说话、发言）的名词形式。parliament的字面意思就是“开会、讨论”，后来才演变成了一种常设机构和国家政治制度。最初在英语中保持了parlement这种法语拼写形式，14世纪时受拉丁语单词parliamentum的影响，才演变为现在的拼写形式parliament。
