　　English Vocabulary

　　The temperature is how hot or cold something is.

　　温度是指某物有多热或有多冷。

　　We use athermometerto measure the temperature of something.

　　我们用温度计测量某物的温度。

　　Temperature is usually measured indegrees.

　　温度通常用度来作单位符号测量。

　　The ° symbol after a number means degrees.

　　30° = thirty degrees

　　There are two main systems used for measuring temperature:

　　°F= degrees Fahrenheit (used in United States)

　　°C= degrees Celsius (used in the rest of the world)

　　It is not common to say theCelsius or Fahrenheit part in spoken english.

　　And if the temperature is below zero, what do we say?

　　We use minus.

　　我们用minus /'maɪnəs/这个词。

　　=It is minus ten.

　　28°C (or more) - Hot 热的

　　15 to 28°C - Warm 温暖的

　　10 to 15°C - Cool凉爽的

　　5 to 10°C - Chilly冷的

　　0°C (or less) - Freezing严寒的

　　The temperatures given are only an approximation to give you an idea of when to use them.

　　Remember, what is hot in one country may only be considered warm in another.

　　What may be chilly in one country may be freezing in another.
