PTE阅读FIB高频讲解（一）

　　在PTE考试阅读部分中，两种Fillintheblanks题型占分比最高，非常值得同学们在了解答题技巧外多投入时间备考。然而，一眼望去，两种FIB题型对考生的词汇掌握程度要求很高，不仅考察单词的词义、时态、词性，还涉及到固定搭配和语境，因此让很多想备考该题型的同学无从下手。

　　The horned desert viper’s ability to hunt at night has always puzzled biologists. Though it lies with itsheadburied in the sand, it can strike with great precision as soon as prey appears. Now, Young and physicists Leo van Hemmen and Paul Friedel at the Technical University of Munich in Germany have developed a computermodelof the snake’s auditorysystemto explain how the snake “hears” itspreywithout really having the ears for it. Although the vipers haveinternal ears that can hearfrequenciesbetween 200 and 1000 hertz, it is not the sound of the mouse scurrying about that they are detecting. “The snakes don’t have externaleardrums,” says van Hemmen. “So unless the mouse wears boots and starts stamping, the snake won’t hear it.”
