　　1. Help.

　　用作遇到危险时的呼救语，意为：来人啊! 救命啊! 如：

　　Help! Somebody! Help! Help! 救命啊!来人啊! 救命啊!救命啊!

　　Help! Help! A boy is drowning! 救人啊! 救人啊!一个男孩要淹死了!

　　A：Help! Help! 救命啊! 救命啊!

　　B：What’s the matter? 出什么事了?

　　A：I don’t know. But be quick;let’s go and see what has happened. 不知道，快! 我们去看看出什么事了。

　　2. Help yourself.

　　(1) 用作招呼客人吃东西时的客套话，意为：请随便吃;请吃……;别客气。如：

　　Help yourself, Mr Green. 格林先生，请随便吃。

　　Help yourself to the fish. 请吃鱼。

　　Make yourself at home, and help yourself to anything you like. 请不要拘束，喜欢吃什么就吃什么。

　　(2) 表示客气答应请求，意为：请自便，自已拿吧! 如：

　　A：Do you think I could use your dictionary? 我可以用你的词典吗?

　　B：Yes, help yourself. 可以，自已拿吧。

　　A：Can I have a drink? 我可以喝杯酒吗?

　　B：Help yourself. 请自己倒。

　　3. I can’t help it.

　　(1) 表示帮不上忙，意为：我也没办法;这不是我的错。如：

　　He doesn’t love you any more and I can’t help it. 他不再爱你了，我也没有办法。

　　I can’t help it if the train is late. 要是火车晚点我也没办法。

　　有时可用于被动语态(见 It can’t be helped. )。

　　(2) 表示控制不住某种情感或思想等，意为：我控制不住; 我忍不住;我没法不……。如：

　　A：Why are you crying? 你为什么哭?

　　B：I can’t help it. 我忍不住。

　　有时可将其中的代词 it 换成 myself：

　　I can’t help myself, but I mean no harm. 我控制不了自己，但我并没有恶意。

　　I wasn’t supposed to go to the movies, but I could not help myself. 我不该去看电影的，但我就是管不住自己。

　　4. It can’t be helped.

　　表示没有办法或帮不上忙，意为：无可挽回; 这是无法避免的;实在没办法;只好这样。如：

　　You’ve broken it now; it can’t be helped. 你把它打破了，已无法挽回。

　　We haven’t got enough money, and it can’t be helped. 我们没有足够的钱，这实在没办法。

　　此用法也可换成：There’s no help for it. 如：

　　Since so, there’s no need for it but to delay our journey. 既然如此，也没有办法，我们只好推迟旅行。

　　The thing is done and there is no help for it now. 木已成舟，现已无法挽回。

　　5. So help me.

　　用于发誓，意为：上天作证;我敢发誓;千真万确。如：

　　I really swam across the river, so help me. 我的确游过了河，我对天发誓。

　　I didn’t mean to do it. So help me, it was an accident. 我不是有意要那样做，上天作证，那的确是一次事故。

　　有时其它可接其它词或成分(www.yywords.com)：

　　I’ll pay you back, so help me (I will). 这钱我一定还给你，我敢发誓。

　　It’s the truth. So help me it is. 那是真的，上天作证，的确如此。

　　If you say that once more, so help me I’ll hit you. 要是你再说一遍这样的话，我可真的要狠狠凑你一顿了。

　　另外有时 so help me 后也可接 God 一词(以加强语气)：

　　I didn’t know the man I insulted was your father. So help me God I didn’t. 我不知道你侮辱的那个是你父亲，上天作证，我做梦也没有想到啊。
