雅思写作中的高频词：增加和减少

　　雅思写作中的小作文，动动就是曲线图、柱状图，增加、减少随处可见。考雅思的宝宝，要注意以下几个词的用法：

　　Decrease和reduce有什么区别?

　　这一组动词都有“减少，减轻”的意思。

　　alleviate, diminish, reduce, decrease, decline

　　这一组动词都有“减少，减轻”的意思。

　　alleviate v.在痛苦方面的减轻，缓和

　　The painkiller alleviated the pain.止疼药减缓了疼痛。

　　diminish v.指因为不断消耗，在数量方面缓慢减少，也指在素质或者价值的下降。

　　The supply of oil has diminished because of the war.由于战争石油的供应减少了。

　　reduce v.指人为地使某物在数量或重量方面的减少或降低。

　　reduce是一种主观的减少、降低，主语是使减少的外力.to make something smaller or less in size、amount or price,

　　He reduced the amount of money they could spend.他缩减了他们的开销。

　　decrease v.指数量上的减少;力量或者强度的减弱。decrese是一种客观的减少、下降，主语是减少的东西(size. amount. or price etc.).to go down to a lower level. or to make something do this.

　　decrease专指数值上的下降。

　　The population decreased a lot last year.去年人口数量急剧下降。

　　decline v. (数目、价格、比率)下降;谢绝，婉言推辞;衰退，衰落。 decline除了数值上的还能指能力等抽象量的下降.

　　Last year, the crime rate in Chicago has sharply declined.去年芝加哥的犯罪率明显下降。

　　Add 和increase的区别：

　　答：add是“把……加入....”，increase则表示“增加”的意思。

　　例如：He added water to the medicine. 他往药里加点水。

　　They have decided to increase his wages to 150 yuan a month.他们已决定每月为他提高150元工资。

　　但add to可作“增加”解。This adds to our difficulties. 这增加了我的负担。

　　He added some sugar to the milk.

　　他往牛奶里加了一些糖。
