　　逗号是ACT考试中被看到最多次的标点，它主要有4种用途。

　　1、用于连接一个句子中主语、谓语、表语、宾语、定语的并列成分。当并列成分，有三个或者三个以上，最后一个需要用逗号隔开。

　　如：Lily，Susie and I were enthusiastic about the movie.如：Having found the leaking pipe, the plumber cut off the water, replaced the pipe and told the homeowner to call him if the leak recurred.

　　2、 用于分隔同位语

　　如：Alice and her sisters, all scuba divers, spend a week diving at Marathon in the Florida Keys every year.

　　3、用于分隔至于句首或插在句中的状语或状语从句

　　如：Since you are in poor health, you should not stay up late.

　　如: After graduation, many graduates find it difficult to get a job.

　　4、用于分隔非限制性定语从句

　　如：My grandfather, who smokes a lot, is ninety.

　　5、 用于分隔插入语如：Some parents, it appears, are more concerned about their children’s test scores.

　　撇号

　　1、表示名词或不定代词的所有格。

　　如：Sally’s mobile phone was stolen.如：Everybody’s business is nobody’s business.

　　这个标点，在小学和初中已近学过，对于绝大多数学生不是难点，但是，撇号的使用有两点必须注意。

　　A.“of+名词所有格”中的名词必须表示人，不能表示事物。

　　a play of Shakespeare’s(莎士比亚的一个戏剧)， a friend of my wife’s(我妻子的一个朋友)，但却不能说a funnel of the ship’s或 a leg of a table’s

　　B.该名词必须是特指的，不能是泛指的。

　　a friend of the doctor’s(这位医生的一个朋友)，a novel of the writer’s(那位作者的一部小说)，而不能说a friend of a doctor’s或 a novel of a writer’s

　　2、表示省略(如：it’s = it is)，这部分比较简单，并且不是ACT的考点，所以在这里不多做介绍。

　　句号

　　句号是句子的终结号。只要一个句子说完了，句法结构完整，能独立地表达一个完整的意思，那就是完整的句子，应该在句末加句号。在ACT考试中，学生在做句号问题的题目时，只要看清句子的成分是否完整即可。

　　冒号

　　冒号表示提示性词语之后或总结性词语之前的停顿，用于表示上下文前后具有解释、阐述或总结等意思关系。冒号常用语引出表示并列或解释性的词语。

　　如：He can speak 4 languages: Japanese, English, French and Italian.如: Sarah told us her favorite book: The Count of Monte Cristo.

　　分号

　　分号用在复句内部的并列分句之间，表示大于逗号而小鱼句号的停顿。分号常用语两个关系密切的独立分句之间，以阐述平衡或对比的效果。

　　如: Many politicians represent moderate ideas; it is an easy way to satisfy most voters.

　　破折号

　　破折号表示句中较大的停顿，用于分隔句中需要解释说明或强调的部分。常表示思维跳跃或话语突然改变，因此突然转折或甲乙强调的话语，或是引出同位语或补充说明的话语，此外还可以引出总结性的话语。

　　如: Arlene Kregman—the first woman elected to the board of directors—is the next scheduled speaker.
