　　It is undeniable that both science and arts are two critical aspects of human society. Some people believe that science is more important than arts,where as opponents frown upon such idea. In my opinion, I believe that science is more important than arts.

　　First, science contributes to the increase of productivity, which cannot be achieved by arts. In other words, scientists and engineers have designed and developed machines in almost all industries to replace human force and accelerate manufacturing processes. For example, a recent study by Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology reported that the mechanisation in textile industry have increased 60% manufacturing productivity during the past ten years.

　　Another reason making science more important is that science, rather than arts, promotes technological advancement. This is a rather evident statement as some science subjects, including applied physics and computing sciences, pave the path for the emergence and development of cell phones and the internet. According to a 2015 Australian survey, the penetration of electronic devices in Victoria was up to 70% in 2014. That is to say, electronic devices changed the way people communicate and interact. As a result, the development of technology is a beneficial result of science.

　　In conclusion, science is more important than arts because science increases productivity and promotes the development of technology. In order to further promote science, governments and universities should devote sufficient funding,and the public awareness should be raised to encourage scientific advancements.
