　　1. 表原因

　　It was a great honour to be invited here today.

　　今天承蒙邀请到此，深感荣幸。

　　The senator claims to have been misquoted in the article.

　　参议员声称文章错误地引用了他的话。

　　2. 表目的

　　Anne raised her voice in order to be heard.

　　为了让人能听得见，安妮提高了嗓门。

　　Children need to be educated on the dangers of drug-taking.

　　有必要对儿童进行吸毒危害的教育。

　　3. 表结果

　　It's just you say three more have to be killed.

　　你说还要再杀三个。

　　I had to shout to be heard.

　　我必须叫喊对方才能听得见。

　　注意以下特殊结构：

　　(1) only to be done结构

　　Sprouted beans only need to be cooked for 1-2 minutes.

　　豆芽只需烹炒一到两分钟。

　　She got there only to be told that they had gone on holiday.

　　她到达那里，被告知他们度假去了。

　　(2) too…to…结构

　　The responsibility placed upon us is too heavy to be borne.

　　加在我们肩上的责任太重，难以承担。

　　He was too young to be entrusted with such a task.

　　他年纪太轻不宜委以这样的任务。

　　(3) so as to结构

　　He shut himself in the room so as not to be disturbed.

　　他把自己关在屋里以免受到打扰。
